Among the finalists are Bernadette Obode and Gurkiran Chana, both 17, both of whom are the youngest to compete in the finals, aimed at 16-19 year olds.

The students of Bexleyheath Academy will attend the final in Covent Garden on September 22 during London fashion week.

To be selected for the final, the girls had to attend ten weeks of practical workshops before showcasing their completed portfolios to a panel of industry experts.

On the night each finalist will showcase a collection inspired by Korean and Japanese culture.

Judges at the final include Mary Martin, co-presenter of BBC two’s ‘Great British Sewing Bee’, designers from George at Asda and others.
