Blaze burns block of flats in Thamesmead as investigation begins

Two people were found inside the flat

Fire crews rescued two people from a burning flat on Thursday.

More than a dozen firefighters from Erith, Bexley and Plumstead were called to a blaze inside a first floor flat in Poplar Place, Thamesmead.

London Fire Brigade was called just after 1.30pm, and had brought the fire under control by 2.16pm

An investigation into how the fire started is now underway.
