SEVEN residents were rescued by firefighters from their first floor flats after a fire broke out.

SEVEN residents were rescued by firefighters from their first floor flats after a fire broke out.

The fire began in a ground floor flat in Jason Walk, Eltham, last Sunday at approximately 2.56pm causing the rest of the block to be smoke-logged.

Twenty-five firefighters spent an hour putting out the blaze and rescuing seven first floor residents.

Two ambulances were called and two women and one man were taken to Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup with minor smoke inhalations.

The cause of the fire which damaged half of the four-bedroom flat is still under investigation.
