Police are appealing for witnesses

A TEENAGE boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being assaulted in Thamesmead.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which left the 15-year-old with head injuries. He is in a south London hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The assault happened in Manordene Road at 10.45pm on Saturday, and no-one has yet been arrested.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes, from Bexley CID, said: “We believe the boy was struck across the head with a weapon or other object.

“When police were called, the boy was surrounded by a group of people. We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, was in the area or has any information to come forward.”
