VOLUNTEERS are needed for a family fun day which is expected to attract 5000 people.

Shootershillian Sports and Social Club in Mayday Gardens, Kidbrooke, will be hosting free activities for children, live entertainment and sporting displays, on Sunday June 13, from 11am until 4pm.

Organisers are expecting up to 5,000 people to attend the event which will include a training display by the rugby section of the club as well as a tag rugby session which children can take part in.

A spokesperson for the club said: "It is absolutely essential to the future of the club that this day is a success and it could become an annual event."

There will also be stalls selling arts and crafts, raffles and food and drink.

The event is being held with the Samuel Montagu Youth Club in Broad Walk, Kidbrooke and in conjunction with the Great Get Together events organised by Greenwich Council.

There will be no on site parking on June 13. Those who can spare an hour or two to volunteer for the event, can call Liz Sullivan on 07985 701684 or sign the volunteers list at the club.

Those wishing to hold a stall will have to pay a pitch price of approximately £10 and tables will be provided.
