PARENTS are teaching a free course for carers of ill children next month.

The course is for parents of children with long-term conditions and will be taught by people with similar experiences.

They aim to share experiences, to look at ways of managing, looking after the carer and the impact of childhood illness or disability on the whole family.

Ways to work with health care professionals and with the school system are covered as well as strategies to manage exhaustion and difficult feelings.

The course consists of six, weekly, two-and-a-half-hour sessions, for six weeks.

It starts on Wednesday November 5, between 10.30am and 1pm and runs for Wednesdays throughout November and December 3 and 10. Lunch is provided and a crèche is available.
