READERS have continued sending in donations towards a charity fund-raiser in memory of slain teen Jimmy Mizen.

The Mizen family, of Dallinger Road, Lee, set up the Jimmy Bus Appeal on June 2 to raise money for a scout bus for Our Lady and Lourdes Church, in Burnt Ash Hill, Lee.

We asked you to send us your donations towards the appeal, and have now received a total of £385.

Hundreds of mourners gathered at the Lee church on June 20 to attend Mr Mizen's two-hour funeral service.

Last Sunday, June 22 a memorial event was also held at Sidcup Rugby Club, where Mr Mizen played and his eldest brother, Danny, was captain. Up to £4,000 was raised.

Thanks go to readers Miss L Wilson, Mrs S Chandler, Mrs and Mr Kay, Mrs P Wallace, Mr K Hullett, Mrs M Keeley, Mrs J Everson, and Mrs J Pike, and the D'Silva family from Welling.

The appeal has received £10,150 towards the cost of the £20,000 mini bus.

To donate towards the bus, send cheques payable to Jimmy Bus Appeal, to News Desk, Kentish Times Newspapers, Roxby House, Station Road, Sidcup, Kent, DA15 7EJ.
