A MEMBER of the London Symphony Orchestra is expected to stage a cello concert at a grammar school.

A MEMBER of the London Symphony Orchestra is expected to stage a cello concert at a grammar school.

Minat Lyons will be accompanied by Sidcup Symphony Orchestra to perform Antonín Dvorak's cello concerto Asrael Symphony, No. 2 due to take place on Saturday May 9 at St John's Church, Church Avenue, Sidcup.

Whilst at the Royal College of Music Israeli-born Lyons was awarded with every cello prize possible.

The piece she will be playing at the weekend was by Dvorak in 1895 upon his return to his homeland in Czechoslavakia, following a stint in New York where he wrote his New World Symphony.
