A FIRE at a church raged for six hours before firefighters were able to put it out.

A FIRE at a church raged for six hours before firefighters were able to put it out.

Around 50 firefighters were called to Crown Industrial Estate, in Nathan Way, Thamesmead, at 6pm on Tuesday to tackle the fire at Praise Embassy, a Pentecostal church. Pastor Peter Segun Ogedengbe, was unavailable for comment as the Times went to press. A quarter of the 2,800 square metre unit was damaged by the fire which burnt on until 12.45am.

Fire crews from Plumstead, Greenwich, Woolwich, Erith, Eltham and Bromley tackled the blaze.
