The event was part of a national charity drive

A successful coffee morning managed to raise more than £700 at an event last week.

On Friday, Barnehurst Road hosted its own event as part of Macmillan’s world’s biggest coffee morning.

Commuters on their way to Barnehurst Station were offered tea, coffee and cakes by a team of volunteers out to raise money for the cancer patient support charity.

In total, £701.53 was raised, which will go towards the national sum.

Last year the charity managed to raise more than £25million from the event.

Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett was at the stall, and praised the charity’s work.

He said: “They do great work to help people suffering from cancer and their families, and it’s good to see the local community coming together to show how much they value Macmillan”.
