Residents help clean up Erith Park

Residents and staff from Orbit South and the Erith McDonald’s participated in a litter pick on Thursday to spruce up Erith Park.

In total 13 people volunteered to tidy up public space The Dell, which had previously been cleared in October during a similar community partnership event, arming themselves with rubbish bags, gloves and litter pickers for the two-hour session.

The team collected about 30 bags of rubbish and after the litter was collected, the Orbit South Estate Services team picked up everything and disposed of it safely.

Wendy Guest, business manager for McDonald’s in Erith, said: “The tidying day was a brilliant experience; the team have enjoyed cleaning the Dell and hope that it stays in a good state for the community to enjoy. We enjoy doing things for the community and seeing the positive difference that it makes. We hope to continue to be involved with the Erith Park development.”

Maddassar Arif, regeneration community development officer for Orbit Homes at Erith Park, said: “It was an enjoyable and productive day at the Dell, the space now looks clean and tidy and is ready for the community to enjoy as the sun arrives in the coming weeks.

“It even made an appearance for the duration of the clean-up, which was great.”
