A POLICE officer accused of trying to entice a 13-year-old girl into watching internet porn has been ordered to stand trial next April.

PC Marco Nogueira, 31, from Sidcup, was arrested following an undercover police sting in which another officer posed as a schoolgirl in a chatroom in February 2008. He is said to have initiated lewd online conversations before directing the officer to a website showing a couple performing a sex act.

Judge Anthony Pitts said: "The child is not a child, it is an undercover police officer posing as something like that."

The constable, who has been suspended from the Metropolitan Police, was a probationer attached to Greenwich borough in south-east London, at the time of his arrest. Judge Pitts granted unconditional bail ahead of a two-day trial due to start on April 26, 2010. Nogueira denies attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act on February 26 last year.
