TWO police officers accused of framing a suspect for possession of cannabis have been ordered to stand trial.

Sergeant Marcus Garvey, 44, from Abbey Wood and PC Wayne Campbell, 40, from Cliffe, are accused of lying in evidence given at Benjamin Thacker's trial in March last year.

Mr Thacker was cleared of possessing the class C drug by Greenwich Magistrates Court.

The JPs then referred the matter back to the Metropolitan Police for investigation.

A woman Police Community Support Officer Stefanie Loftus, 22, from Ilford, is also said to have colluded with the cops over the incident in Kidbrooke on January 26 last year.

The trio, based at Eltham Police Station, denied any wrongdoing when they appeared at London's Southwark Crown Court yesterday.

Judge Christopher Hardy allowed them bail ahead of a four-day trial on August 17 this year.

They each pleaded not guilty to one count of 'doing acts tending or intended to pervert the course of public justice' between January 25 and March 6 last year.
