BT believes 19 payphones are not viable

The council is asking residents to give their views on proposals to remove payphones scattered across the borough.

In Bexley there are 19 BT payphones which are set to be removed, as BT believes they are not viable.

According to the communications company, overall use of payphones has dropped by more than 90 per cent in the last decade and the need for payphones in emergencies is reducing.
