Bexleyheath’s public learnt one dog’s trick yesterday (Monday) during a sniffer dog demonstration.

Phoebe, a specially trained dog, visited the Broadway, Bexleyheath to highlight the work taking place to sniff out illegal tobacco.

Council trading Standards officers were also present to give information about how to identify illegal tobacco products and the negative impact they pose.

One in ten cigarettes are believed to be counterfeit or smuggled, with a potential street value of more than £22million each year across south-east London boroughs.

Fake cigarettes can contain a manner of additional harmful substances compared to regular cigarettes and also pose a greater fire risk.
