A WOMAN and a man believed to have murdered a 21-month-old child have been questioned by police.

The baby boy died from multiple injuries in Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, less than an hour after he was taken from an address in Bexleyheath on December 29.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested that day on suspicion of assault along with a 24-year-old man believed to be her boyfriend.

But they were rearrested on New Year's Eve on suspicion of murder after a post mortem at Great Ormond Street Hospital concluded that the boy died of multiple injuries.

They have been bailed and are due to return to a police station in early February.

Bexley council said the infant was not on its child protection register.
