An author whose book has been chosen to be read for this year’s Cityread London event entertained an audience at Central Library Bexleyheath with a talk on her book.

Louisa Young spoke about her book ‘My dear, I wanted to tell you’, focusing on love and war and the impact on those who were left behind and those who went to fight in the trenches.

It was chosen to be read for this year’s Cityread London event, an annual celebration of literature.

In the talk, Louisa spoke about the research she did into innovative maxillofacial reconstruction, which was pioneered at Queen’s hospital in Sidcup and discussed the role the borough played in treating war casualties.

She also read extracts from her forthcoming sequel to the book ‘The heroes’ welcome’, which will be available in libraries in June.

‘My dear I wanted to tell you’ is available from Bexley libraries.
