A driver has been jailed for two years after the death of a girl in a 4x4 who was on holiday celebrating her exam results.

Brian Johnson, 45, from Belvedere, admitted causing the death by careless driving charge after the 4x4 vehicle overturned in a river near Llyn Brianne, Powys, Wales, on September 5, 2008.

Louise Ferreira, 17, from Thamesmead, was on holiday with friends, celebrating her exam results, when she died. She was taken to Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth following a rescue operation which involved three helicopters.

Johnson was also banned from driving for three years when sentenced at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court last Friday (20).
