The UK Independence Party's freepost address has been closed after the party were sent human faeces, blood, bricks and litres of water.
The closure was announced on the UKIP Bexley Twitter account on May 3.
A photograph was posted of a printed note to explain the reasons for this, which read: “You may have been aware that there have been incidents of inappropriate mail items being sent to a UKIP freepost address. This includes items which are prohibited (such as blood/human faeces) and present a health and safety risk both to you and our Royal Mail colleagues.”
The photograph was accompanied by the caption “What kind of person sends faeces or blood to a political party? Are people ok? Confirmed, no more #UKIPfreepost”.
Freepost allows packages to be sent with no stamp as cost is undertaken by the recipient.
