An unlicensed cab driver has pleaded guilty to raping a passenger 16 years ago.
Mustafa Hassan, 68, of Mangold Way, Erith, is due to be sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday, January 13, after changing his plea to guilty when he appeared in the same court on Monday (28).
He was arrested after a cold case investigation matched his DNA to the rape of the 29-year-old woman in 1995.
This comes after Hassan was arrested in 2005 and fined for touting his unlicensed cab. His DNA was then stored on the police databank.
In court on Monday (28) prosecutor Toyin Salako, said the victim had been celebrating her birthday in London’s West End when her husband went round the corner to get a black cab.
She was gone when he came back. She passed out in the back of Hassan’s car and came to in Croydon, with her clothes disturbed. Hassan drove off, leaving her to ring her husband for help.
He was remanded in custody for pre-sentencing reports to be carried out.
