The special event is being called Butterflies and Orchids and sees the butterfly house planted with orchids from around the world.

The organisers said it is a perfect match for the hundreds of free flying tropical butterflies.

Paul Allen, the director of Butterfly Jungle, said: “We have around 200 butterflies here along with several feeding stations so visitors can see them eating as well as free-flying around the miniature tropical forest we have.

“Our most spectacular butterfly would be the blue morpho which has a wingspan of around 15cm.

“There are also the glass wings which, as the name suggests, has wings that are transparent and you can see right through them.”

The event runs until February 28 and admission is £4 for adults, £3 for children.
