Customers asked to donate to charity instead

Solicitors in Bexley are offering to help people draw up a will for free next month – and helping charities at the same time.

Twelve firms in the borough will be waiving their fees throughout November as part of Will Aid Month – and are asking people to donate to charity instead.

The suggested donation is £95 for a single will and £150 for two. The money will go to Will Aid’s nine UK and international charities, including Age UK, Sightsavers and the British Red Cross.

This month there have been changes to the law affecting what happens to your estate if you die without a will.

A Will Aid spokesperson said: “Only by writing a valid will can people ensure that the way their money and possessions are distributed after death reflects their priorities in life, whether these be friends, family, pets or charitable organisations.

“If you have young children it is also vital to ensure you have made arrangements for their guardianship.

“You can leave a great deal of unnecessary stress and trouble behind you if you die without a will, but it is simple when you have expert help and the solicitor will guide you through the process.”
