Driver arrested after road death

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a pedestrian was killed by a 4X4.

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a pedestrian was killed by a 4X4.

Alexander Reed, 38, of Rideout Street, Woolwich, died at in Harrow Manor Way, near its junction with Overton Road in Abbey Wood, on Sunday at about 6.30pm.

He was hit by a red Land Rover Discovery and was treated by ambulance staff but died at the scene.

A 58-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving. He has been bailed to a date in July pending further enquiries.

A post mortem at Princess Royal Hospital, Farnborough on Tuesday gave the cause of death as trauma to the heart and bleeding.
