NINETEEN people have been charged following simultaneous drugs raids on Tuesday.

Kent Police searched 30 properties across north Kent as 10 drug squads used battering rams to gain access to target known offenders. Among these were two men from south-east London.

Adam Mann, 40, of Smithies Road, Abbey Wood, was charged with two counts of supplying controlled drugs and Antonio Diambu, 27, of Rutland Gate, Belvedere, was charged with two counts of possession of controlled drugs and one of obstructing a PC in the execution of their duty.

Based on months of intelligence-led work, police seized class A drugs including cocaine, heroine and amphetamines.

Alan Pughsley, Assistant Chief Constable in charge of specialist operations, said the initiative - named Operation Evict - was a huge success.

All of those charged were due to appear before magistrates in Medway yesterday via video link from North Kent Police Station, in Northfleet.
