A MOTHER of two who stabbed her music producer partner to death after subjecting him to years of domestic abuse has jailed indefinitely.

Gaillene Young, 36, of Bardsley Lane, Greenwich, killed boyfriend Nicholas Venn - a close friend of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence - during a drunken row at their home.

Mr Venn, 35, was known as 'V Dub' and 'Dubsta' had worked with Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood and had opened his own studio promoting hip-hop in east London in 2000.

The Old Bailey heard his career was put on hold after he got into the stormy relationship with Young the same year.

His mother Sheila Venn kept a diary of the violence he suffered at the hands of his partner until his death on September 3 last year.

In a statement to the court, she said: "Our son Nicky was the victim of violent and mental abuse from his partner for the past eight years which in the end cost his life."

Young was charged with murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility.

Judge Christopher Moss QC told her she must serve at least four years behind bars before being considered for parole.

He said: "This is a tragic and miserable case.
