Alex Dyer’s winner against Aldershot Town lifted Welling up to the giddy heights of seventh in the Conference Premier last night.

Dyer scored the only goal of the game at Park View Road after 15 minutes, following up after Ross Lafayette’s shot had been saved by visiting goalkeeper Glenn Morris.

The Wings had the better chances as they stretched their unbeaten run to four matches, with Dyer and Fraser Franks both going close.

At the other end, Lee Butcher had to be alert to keep out Brett Williams but they moved to within a point of the play-off places ahead of a trip to Macclesfield on Saturday.

There a few seats left on the coach heading to Braintree Town on Tuesday, October 8.
