Erith and Thamesmead MP Teresa Pearce was one of three MPs to send to hand a petition to the government over the future of troubled South London Healthcare Trust (SLHT).

She joined her Labour counterparts Clive Efford for Eltham and Nick Raynsford for Greenwich and Woolwich in taking the document, which has been signed by more than 9,000 people, to the Houses of Parliament yesterday (Tuesday).

The petition asked for cuts to members of staff or services and hospital closures to be prevented.

Trust administrator Matthew Kershaw will present his report on debt-ridden SLHT’s future on Monday (October 29).
