An Erith man has won a national country singing award.

Wayne Jacobs, of Riverdale Road, clinched the UK Country Radio 2012 Listeners Club Award in the final in Derby on Saturday of last week (September 1) with his song Kentucky Whiskey.

The 50-year-old said: “This was a dream come true. I can’t believe so many people voted for me and it is testament to the hard work I’ve put into my music.

“I’m really pleased with all the support I’ve had and am grateful for everyone who voted for me.”

Wayne is the fifth winner of the prize and the song will be played on the radio station.
