It will open on March 30

A new weekly street market is set to open later this month for a trial period.

The Wednesday market could become a regular event, claims the council.

Starting on March 30, the market will have stalls selling clothes, accessories, homeware, gifts and more.

Linda Bailey, cabinet member for regeneration and growth, said: “Most Bexley residents will have fond memories of visiting Erith market from years gone by and local residents have told us they are keen to see it return.

“I hope people will come along to support this new market and that it will prove just as popular. A vibrant market can attract new businesses and investment, which will in turn support the work of the Council and its partners to revitalise the town.”

The market trial is being put on by the same company who host markets in Croydon, Greenwich, Harrow, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest, in co-operation with Bexley council.
