Gerri Sharp's dream of opening a candy shop has become a reality

Two people have made their dream a reality by opening an American candy shop in Erith.

The grand opening of Candelicious, in Belmont Road, went without a hitch on Monday when hundreds of schoolchildren and even Willy Wonka himself flocked to the site.

The store, inspired by the 1970s film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, is the dream of two residents who wanted to bring a slice of American magic to the borough.

Co-secretary of the shop, Gerri Sharp from Welling said: “It was wonderful. A constant stream of people of various ages were piling in staring at the shelves.”

Ms Sharp and business partner Ian Webb are hoping to supply Halloween candy bags and a selection of sweets for weddings.
