Evacuation in Sidcup as fire damages electrical substation

The fire started at around 7.20am

An electrical substation neighbouring a four-storey block of flats in Sidcup was damaged in a fire on Tuesday morning.

Around 50 residents were evacuated next to the sub station as a precaution, after fire crews were called just after 7.20am.

The fire, on Highview Road, was brought under control by 9.25am.

Locals were allowed to the return to their homes once the fire was under control.
