A family fun day took place last week

Locals residents in Abbey Wood had the chance to see some of the new features of Lesnes Abbey Woods.

Works to improve the park have been ongoing since last year, as part of the park’s enhancement project.

The project includes the opening of a new skyline viewing terrace, a new outdoor gym and a trim trail.

During a family fun day, which took place last week, hundreds of locals took part in a range of activities.

Some youngsters had the chance to use the new ‘parkour zone’ which encourages street running.

Leader of Bexley council, Teresa O’Neill, said: “As part of the project we really want local people to get involved. Plans for the future include a volunteer programme, a gardening club and regular community events.

“We want Lesnes Abbey Woods to be a place that everyone can come and enjoy and feel part of”
