A FATHER-of-two was stabbed to death by a stranger in an "unprovoked and senseless attack", a court heard.

Paul Martin, 25, was knifed five times in the neck and chest last March 29 after being confronted in Greenwich town centre by 28-year-old Michael Bowden, the Old Bailey heard yesterday. The attacker ran from a telephone box, where he had tried to call his girlfriend 14 times, and "released his rage on his unwitting victim" before running off, jurors were told.

Bowden, of Marden Square, Bermondsey, had been taking medication for a bi-polar disorder and had a violent past.

Mr Martin, from Blackheath, had been waiting for a lift home with his girlfriend Jessica Ryan and two friends. CCTV captured Mr Martin slumping to the ground. He suffered massive blood loss and died in hospital.

The trial continues.
