A fire that burnt through a derelict warehouse in Sidcup on Friday is under investigation.

It took 35 firefighters, six fire engines and specialist equipment to tackle the blaze in the old Klinger building in Edgington Way.

Firefighters said “a quantity of rubbish” was alight on the ground floor when they arrived at 4pm.

They needed breathing apparatus to enter the building as the fire sent up plumes of black smoke.

Crews from Eltham, Sidcup, Orpington and Bromley fire stations attended brought it under control by 5.15pm.
