Firefighters tackle Slade Green grass fire ‘size of three football pitches’

Firefighters tackled a large grass fire in Slade Green last Thursday (July 18).

It took them half an hour to extinguish after being called just before 6pm to the fields in Bridge Road.

London Fire Brigade tweeted: “Crews are tackling a grass fire the size of three football pitches on Bridge Road. We’re working hard to bring it under control #heatwave.”

Once the fire was extinguished, they added: “The grass fire on Bridge Road is now out. Crews have worked hard in #heatwave today and have dealt with 40 grass fires in 24 hours.”
