A jobs fair for workers at the retailer, which is currently in liquidation, was held in June

As BHS faces liquidation, a recent jobs fair has helped former retail workers to secure new jobs in Bexleyheath.

In June, local businesses rallied together to provide job offers and career advice to the many workers who were left jobless as the company cut thousands of jobs across the country.

Jordan Clark from Bexleyheath, was one of the people who lost their job, but she has since found new employment.

The 17-year-old said: “Being made redundant by BHS wasn’t a very good start to my working life, and it made me and my colleagues feel very much defeated.

“But through the Hospitality Carers Club, I was able to apply for a job at the Marriott.

“It not only enables me to have a new job, but also gives me the experience in an industry that I am very much interested in, while also providing me a head start when applying to universities next year for hospitality and tourism courses.”

General manager at the hotel, Gareth Marsh, said: “I am extremely pleased that by reaching out to local BHS employees, we have found such great and talented people.”
