A FORMER Tory cabinet minister who was jailed for perjury and perverting the cause of justice will be speaking at a church.

A FORMER Tory cabinet minister who was jailed for perjury and perverting the cause of justice will be speaking at a church.

Jonathan Aitken will be speaking at a free event at the New Community Church at 24 Station Road, Sidcup, on Thursday, October 8.

The former journalist who famously vowed to use a "sword of truth" to fight "twisted" journalism ahead of losing a libel action will speak from 7.30pm.

The public school-educated Christian was jailed at the Old Bailey in June 1999 for 18 months for perjury and perverting the course of justice.
