Four parties battle for polls glory

AN ELECTION takes place today for a central-borough councillor.

AN ELECTION takes place today for a central-borough councillor.

The Christchurch ward election was triggered by the departure of former Bexley council leader Ian Clement.

Candidates are Ursula Ayliffe (Labour), Michael Barnbrook (British National Party), Oliver John Brooks (Liberal Democrats) and James Spencer (Conservatives).

Mr Clement left to become Deputy Mayor for Government Relations for the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.
