A FRUIT stall with produce from Spitalfields Market has been opened outside a school.

A FRUIT stall with produce from Spitalfields Market has been opened outside a school.

Volunteers will receive healthy food vouchers for running the Augustine Children Centre stall, in St Augustine's Road, Belvedere, which opened last Friday,

The centre, based in St Augustine of Canterbury C of E Primary School, in Belvedere, will open the stall each Friday between noon and 4pm.

Bexley Children's councillor, June Slaughter, said: "A healthy diet is vital for us all and introducing young children to fresh fruit and vegetables is a great way to encourage good eating habits for life."

Fruit and vegetable vouchers worth between £1.25 and £2.50 will be 'paid' to volunteers from the area in return for manning the stall.

It will also accept NHS Healthy Start vouchers.
