Locals braved the unpredictable weather to visit Danson Park last weekend.

The Danson Park Country Fair was held on Saturday and Sunday, and had a wealth of entertainment from re-enactors, flying displays and a live band.

The park has been without an annual event since Danson Park Festival was cancelled back in 2014, but organisers believe the country fair could become part of the local calendar.

Emma Owen helped plan the event with Oakleigh Fairs.

She said: “We were really pleased with how the weekend went, we hadn’t run an event at Danson Park since 2010.

“But we decided to reorganise it and you never quite know how things are going to be accepted but we had lots and lots of people come out.

“We had a couple of really heavy showers on the Saturday but instead of leaving, people just stood under the marquees and waited it out.

Locals were treated to a range of steam engines on display, as well as the stranger side of entertainment, with ferret racing also among the attractions.

The fair also had arts and craft stalls running on Saturday and Sunday.
