Gay murder charge

A MAN has been charged with the murder of a 79-year-old gay man.

A MAN has been charged with the murder of a 79-year-old gay man.

Marcin Orlowski, of no fixed address, appeared at Sutton Magistrates Court on Monday charged with the murder of Edward Highwood on Saturday, July 18.

Mr Highwood was found dead at his home in Hollymount Close, Greenwich, by a housemate. A post-mortem revealed he died from head injuries.

Orlowski, who did not enter a plea, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Central Criminal Court, at a date yet to be confirmed.

Detective inspector Andy Booth said: "Mr Highwood was last seen alive on Friday July 17 and we wish to hear from anyone who saw him at any time that day or the day after.

"Similarly we need to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the vicinity of Hollymount Close on Friday or Saturday."
