A DETERMINED girl whose grandmother died tragically young is calling for people to get involved with a fundraising fun day.

A DETERMINED girl whose grandmother died tragically young is calling for people to get involved with a fundraising fun day.

Megan Heuerman lost her beloved nan Lynda to cancer this February aged just 60 and has since worked doggedly to organise events for the Ellenor Lions Hospice which cared for her.

The Wilmington Grammar School for Girls student's next event is a fun day at Belvedere Sports and Social Club in Woolwich Road on Bank Holiday Monday, from noon to 5pm.

Her mum Donna said: "There's so much preparation going on, Megan is so busy with everything. I am very proud of her. When she lost her nanny she lost her best friend as well. So she's just plunging herself into it."

There will be a licensed bar and barbeque, a bouncy castle, face painting, a giant balloon race, a cake stand, tin can alley and welly wanging.

Mrs Heuerman said they need volunteers to help run the stalls and appeal for as many people to turn up as possible.

Miss Heuerman has released a cover of There's No-one Quite like Grandma, which is out now priced £4.
