GRANTS worth £2,000 to help schemes get off the ground are up for grabs.

The Corporate Small Grants scheme is available for projects that will benefit the community and show how it contributes to the council's key priorities.

Set up to support small voluntary organisations in the borough, the scheme has funded more than 60 projects in its first two years.

Some previously funded activities include a beat the bully project at North Cray Neighbourhood Centre, a project to encourage parents to spend more time reading with their children and part funding for equipment to encourage older people to exercise at Bexley's day centres.

Other grant schemes include the Youth Grants Scheme and the Community Cohesion scheme. Details on grants and application forms are available from www.bexley.gov.uk/smallgrants.
