Free home insulation programme for all homes that need it, with priority for pensioners and those living in fuel poverty. Aim to insulate 4million homes a year.
Divert money currently used on huge road projects (about £30billion) and put more of the UK's transport budget into public transport, especially local schemes for walking, cycling and bus travel.
Spend £1.5billion subsidising existing public transport to make fares up to 10 per cent cheaper and £30billion over the parliament on investing in a better system.
Lobby internationally for greenhouse gas emissions to be cut back dramatically, especially in the developed world.
Invest in cycleways and walkways and end road building and airport expansion.
Increase investment in energy conservation and the insulation of homes and other buildings.
Encourage a shift away from intensive livestock farming, coupled with an overall reduction in
consumption of animal products, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the production of meat, milk and eggs.
Divert the billions of development money still going into the nuclear industry into wind, tidal, biomass, solar power and combined heat and power schemes (CHP).
Introduce tradable carbon quotas. Everyone would be given a monthly carbon allowance free from the Government. The rich would have to pay the poor if they wanted to use more than their fair share.
