The new minibus

Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice are seeking volunteers to drive its new minibus.

The minibus seats up to 14 people and supplements the existing model which the charity has had for more than seven years.

Day hospice sister Tracy Davies said: “For a significant number of people who attend our day hospice facility, transport to and from the home is important. This is especially true for patients who do not have family and friends to support them, or if they are wheelchair users.

“Being able to get out and be part of the local community is incredibly important to the adults visiting us. Being here makes a huge difference to their quality and enjoyment of life.”

Most people who attend visit the Abbey Wood hospice once a week and all care, therapies, meals and transport are provided free of charge.
