A MAN who hit another on the head with a hammer during an argument has escaped a custodial sentence.

A MAN who hit another on the head with a hammer during an argument has escaped a custodial sentence.

Scott Hutson, 20, of Prestwood Close, Plumstead Common was handed a 12 month sentence suspended for 18 months for attacking a man, leaving him with a fractured jaw and needing four stitches.

He has been ordered to attend an Agression Replacement Training Programme and carry out 250 hours of unpaid work as well as paying the victims £500 compensation.
