THIRTY drivers in one neighbourhood have been issued with three points on their licence and £60 fines in a police crackdown on speeding.

The Blackfen and Lamorbey Safer Neighbourhoods Team have handed out the penalties and fines since July in a bid to increase road safety in the area.

This comes after the neighbourhood ward panel, made up of residents, pleaded with police to do something about road safety in the area.

Now officers are using hand-held speed guns to identify drivers who break the law. In their latest operation in Blackfen Road, on September 8, four drivers were found speeding. Other operations recently have taken place in Blackfen Road, Halfway Street and Willersley Avenue.
