AN under-18s musical ensemble group was crowned a winner by an opera singer.

AN under-18s musical ensemble group was crowned a winner by an opera singer.

The Heald Music Theatre Group won best under 18's Ensemble category at the Blackheath Music Festival on May 10 after performing Seasons of Love from the musical Rent.

Recording opera singer Elizabeth Richie judged the category which had four groups.

The group which is run by Joanne Heald, a tutor at the Bird College in Sidcup, is currently looking for new recruits.

Members have to be aged between 12 and 18 and have an interest singing, movement and drama.
