POLICE are still searching for Abbey Wood pensioner Brian Smart, 85, who has been missing for almost a week.

POLICE are still searching for an Abbey Wood pensioner who has been missing for almost a week.

85-year-old Brian Smart was last seen at home on Tuesday at about 7.30pm.

Police say his disappearance is totally out of character.

Mr Smart walks with a stick, but is otherwise generally fit and well for his age and is known to frequent Bexleyheath, Dartford and Bluewater.

He is white, 5ft 7 and of medium build, and usually wears a dark waist-length jacket, blue jeans and dark shoes.

He is not thought to have had any money with him when he disappeared, and does not have an Oyster card.

Police have an unconfirmed sighting of Mr Smart on Wednesday at about 3.30pm near the bowling green on Longleigh Lane, off Bostall Hill, Abbey Wood.

Detective Chief Superintendent Helen Millichap, borough commander for Greenwich, said: “I would appeal to anyone who has any information on Brian’s whereabouts to contact police immediately.

“His family are extremely worried and desperate for information on where he is.”

Anyone with information should call Greenwich police on 07770 825571 or 101.
