A NEW health centre run by GPs will open in one of the poorest parts of the country.

Thamesmead NHS Health Centre is due to open on Thursday, April 29, with unrestricted access, which means that patients don't have to live locally or be registered to make an appointment.

The centre in Battery Road, Thamesmead, will open daily from 8am until 8pm.

It will be run by partnership Evolution Health and NHS Greenwich.

NHS Greenwich Primary Care manager David Sturgeon said: "This new centre is part of a new wave of 'easier to access local health centres' opening up across the borough over the next few years.
